the worst blogger

I am the worst blogger!  It has been months.  I have all these things to blog about but I keep getting distracted.  :) So here is to a new month of better blogging.   In my defense I have been doing really well keeping up with everyone on facebook, so friend me if you there!

I am staying busy with all the cutie pie newborns being born right now.  Even another set of twins coming up.  I hope everyone had a wonderful safe holiday season- we had a great time with friends and family.

I got a smile

I love this little guy (and his sweet big brother)! Here is a little teaser of how we can get a smile even in the middle of teething. I adore those gummy little smiles.. melt my heart for sure.

First.. “why are you taking my picture crazy lady”

The first day of preschool

My little guy started Preschool yesterday, a week late thanks to Tropical Storm Fay closing the schools. I was fine until the night before- I woke up at 3am and could not go back to sleep. We tried to document the day but he really wasn’t having any part of me staying in the classroom. I got one quick picture of him with his name tag, so most of the pictures are from before we left the house.

First I have to explain one image… He thinks Deodorant goes on your inner elbow (those are your pits… he thinks:)) so I had to capture that.

I was so proud, he didn’t cry or anything. Wow he is growing up!

Shop, Declutter and Fun all in one? And it’s “green” too!

I am a shopper. I love it. I even like shopping for things I don’t like or even use (aka the lawn mower). Early in my Internet shopping career I met Amazon.com and our love affair was born. Amazon.com just keeps getting better with all their stuff and their Amazon Prime Shipping. What more could a shopper want than instant gratification of overnight shipping? :) I am sure you can guess where this is going. I have a lot of stuff or should I say, my family has a lot of stuff. We have every kids video ever made it seems. My husband has a million Playstation 2 games (and yes we all know those are outdated now - eye roll). And I have books and more books. Books about parenting, feeding your baby, how to get pregnant, how to stay pregnant, how to have a natural birth (oops didn’t read that one), how to raise a smart kid, how to play with kids, how to clean the house, how to cook- you are getting the idea I hope. Then after the pile of how-to books I have fun books : Photography, art, humor, fiction, non fiction, true crime and more. I like to read.

The only problem is these books I just had to have take up a lot of space. And we all know how fickle children can be with videos. One day they want to watch it 12,678 times and the next day they hate that movie. Enter www.swaptree.com I first heard about swaptree on Good Morning America and I was hooked. The idea is simple and the execution has proven to be flawless for me. You create an account and enter the ISBN number or UPC codes to list your books (this is referred to as your “haves”) then you can import your Wish List from Amazon.com to fill your “wants.” You can also shop around on Swaptree.com to add books to your “wants.” Now you maybe thinking, “I don’t want to spend the time finding out what other people have to see if we have a match.” You don’t have to– swaptree does it for you. They even do some kind of three way trade and then everyone is happy :) I am going on my 18th trade right now and love it. All you pay is shipping which you print from your computer so you don’t have to dare go to the dreaded post office (that is another post in itself). If you got this far.. great now go sign up for Swaptree and save the earth, shop and declutter all at once!

Everyone loves a picture book

Books are so amazing to children, they teach, entertain and explain the world. I love watching children interact with their books. Below are my favorites of “B” and his scary pop up book!

I also wanted to share a wonderful website. Lookybook is an amazing collaboration that includes so many children’s books ONLINE for you to view and read. It is a great way to spend some time with your child and fun to shop for books too! I check it out every time I buy a book now (because over the summer I bought Tough Boris and …well.. it was kind of depressing instead of what I thought it would be).
So please check out lookybook and sign up to view the books. They get new books in every week so it is always growing.

Enjoy reading to your little ones!

A boy and his Pet {take 2}

What do you do when your child is mourning the death of a beloved pet and the entire neighborhood is burned to a crisp? Well you get a puppy of course :) We got Petey when he was 10 weeks and he is just too much fun! He is adjusting well and is just a great little family member. My client Michelle P. has two King Charles Spaniels and she and her husband were wonderful answering all my questions before we brought Petey home. {thanks Michelle!}

Here are some pictures of Petey. The last two are from yesterday after playing outside in Tropical Storm Fay.

A boy and his Pet {Take 1}

What is better than one pet rabbit? Well two pet rabbits of course! We have had Moses for two years and thought he needed a friend- enter Jonah. Everyone adjusted well and Jonah didn’t even seem to mind being picked up 8,000 times a day.

When we had to leave for the Palm Bay fires in May we took Jonah with us. We aren’t sure if it was the shock or the smoke but he died the next day. Sad for me yes.. even worse was the three year old boy who thought we should just dig him up and pet him everyday. {ick}

I kept meaning to print these and due to the homebound days of Fay I am getting to go through some old pictures.. here is Baby Jonah.

Fay ..again

Oh my gosh I am slowly going crazy. I do have to look on the bright side though: we have power, cable, internet, and phone. What we don’t have: totally functioning toilets. Fun Fun times! It does seem to be better than yesterday. {fingers crossed}

Yesterday we ventured to Publix and Subway just to kill the boredom for a half hour. Both places were packed and WHY on earth was the Chinese place closed? I am sure it won’t be open again today. Not sure what today is going to bring but I am guessing more and more rain. I hope you all are staying safe and dry! It is so sad to see the houses flooding on the news. Please be careful too!! The streets are awful in a lot of areas.

Here are some pictures from yesterday’s rain play.

And the elusive picture of “L” and me together! Yes the poor kid has taken 10 baths a day during the storm to pass the time.

More later- stay safe!

Special Info!

On or around May 12, 2009 I am predicting a boom in Brevard county babies {wink} :) Although I am also guessing these will be first time babies to couples “oh so in love.” Because being stuck in a house with a three year old all day (and for 3 days) is not giving me that loving feeling. And I seem to be getting that same insane feeling from other mom’s as well. Anyway, if you end up with a Fay Baby- call me- I will have a special for you for sure!
