Check us out

Check out our family session!  It was so much fun and helped me see things from the "other side."  I now know how hard it is to wait for your slideshow and how difficult ordering can be.  So.. guess what?? I bought them ALL!  Merry Christmas to me.

My Family Session Slideshow

These portraits were created by an excellent photographer in Clermont Detra Perrotti of Photography by Detra.  She is so talented and was excellent to work with.  THANK you Detra for the amazing family memories.  We will treasure these portraits for generations!

I feel so blessed to have these portraits.  I can honestly say I didn’t realize how they would effect me.  I mean I take TONS of pictures of my husband and son.  But to see us actually interacting and all together.  To see me with husband.. to see our family.  AMAZING- just doesn’t do my feelings justice.  I am in awe of how true to life - how I don’t see my imperfections (well in a few I do . but in most I just see the happiness).

I know some of you (my clients) have told me similar things about your sessions with me and I now appreciate those comments SO much more.  Everytime I pick up my camera I want to create a wonderful portrait but even more I want capture a feeling.. the true feeling.  So- having my own family session has inspired me to be true to my craft, true to my style, and my art.  When you commission a custom photographer you are not just hiring them to "take your picture" you are allowing them to become intimate with the very things you hold dear.. your family, your feelings, your trust.  This can be hard for those people used to "say Cheese and look at the camera"  but it will reap rewards so large if you break out of your idea and allow the artist to do their magic.

Check out Mr. Dramatic :)

Cry

So the moral of this is.. you have to trust the vision and creative style of the photographer you choose to hire.  Of course there is nothing wrong with talking about your ideas and some images you had in mind.  But if the person doesn’t do posed.. don’t ask for posed.  It is like asking a painter to sculp your likeness in clay.  He might do a better job than you would but he/she won’t do as good a job as a sculptor would.
