Sometimes I dread doing family pictures because more often than not the mothers hate they way they look. They don’t buy as many of the images, they aren’t wow’ed by their child’s expression.. all they see are their "imperfections." Imperfections that I don’t see.. that a friend wouldn’t notice .. in fact NO ONE notices except our own eye. We are so hard on ourselves. Our children want and need family images displayed (I prefer BIG displays of course) in the home. They need to see the family unit, to feel a part of it. These pictures need to be updated as your child grows and changes- as you all change.
If I can hire a photographer for my family pictures and commit to a gallery wall and 20×30 wall portrait - next month.. when let’s be honest here.. I am still going to be carrying around this extra weight. Well if I can do it.. so can you!
This didn’t start out as plug for family portraits but well.. now it is :) My other real life example is of my son and his "Mimmie" (grandmother). She is always telling me "not that picture or I don’t like that one" blah blah.. I finally printed one on canvas anyway for "L"’s room and he LOVES it. He says, "Goodnight MeME" everynight. He doesn’t notice the things she doesn’t like about it.. he just sees who she is.. THE woman who LOVES him almost as much as I do.
